Our subjective understanding of space is not only dictated by its physical, material reality, but also based on one’s individual social situation, memory, and perception. We exist within particular political, social, cultural, and economic atmospheres that further tangle our experience and understanding of space. This intricate experience of space is how I approach each body of work.
My work is conceptually inspired by a subjective understanding of my relationship to space, presented in a way that can be interpreted by a diverse audience. I am attempting to distill and simplify the types of encounters and relationships we have in space, into singular bodies of work. I employ video, audio, photography, and installation in an effort to create immersive experiences for the viewer.
